booyah!  test shirt printed :) yay Inky-shirt.design by the ever so talented Nana (http://nanasharkwolf.tumblr.com)!Inky’s sweater in the design came out a little too dark, so after a bit of fiddling, it’s back to the printers to bang out the final version :D

▶ shirts

i really love designing these things.  i do.  i love it when a design comes together after fiddling with it for days, i love messing about with little things in the design that someone might never see or recognize, i love it all.

but it drives me nuts not being able to draw.  absolutely nuts.  having to rely on other people’s art to get the job done isn’t always a problem, but when i’m considering SELLING 3/4s of the designs i come up with, it makes things a bit difficult.

i make pony shirts mostly, so the majority of the artwork i use is vectors made by other people of parts or characters of the show.  very rarely do i rely on original art(if i do, i make SURE to ask the creator if i can print it, and i’ve never sold shirts with anyone’s original artwork on it, it’s only every been for myself, or maybe a gift for a friend).  but if it’s just reproduced artwork at a higher resolution, which describes all the vector work i use, should i ask permission?  i know the polite thing to do is to obtain permission, but what happens if i ask and they say no?(only happened once, but still)  there goes my design, whether i’ve asked before i got to work, or asked once the design came together.

several people have just said ‘print them anyway, it’s fucking vector art’, and there are days when i agree with them.  these would be the days when i curse my lackluster drawing skills.  i’m putting in the practice with the tablet, but it’s just not coming to me as easily as i’d have hoped.

anyway, that’s just my shirt rant for the time being.

in happy shirt news, i have 3 new designs i should be able to post up in the coming days, AND i should have the test print for Thunder’s Inky shirt in a day or so, so fucking excited to see how that looks.  thanks again for letting me print this for you Thunder! :)

New shirt design!
inspired by THE SECOND WEEK OF JANUARY(a drunken Brony meet i attended), in which it was reaffirmed that one of my friends likes the sauce a bit too much, and we can all still get a laugh out of ‘My New Haircut’
being colorblind makes picking shirt colors hard, i THINK this looks good, or at least it looks good to me :p think my choice is horrendous?  suggest another color(from this list)!
